Chamber cancels Santa visits due to COVID-19

After careful consideration, the Monticello Area Chamber of Commerce (MACC) has decided to cancel the visits with Santa Claus in Monticello for 2020.

There were many factors taken into account, including the health and safety of the community and the ability to put on a successful event with the current restrictions due to COVID-19.

“We thank Santa, Mrs. Claus, and our event sponsor and look forward to seeing you in 2021,” expressed MACC Executive Director Jan Hoag. “Even a pandemic cannot stop holiday celebrations and other community activities that may be planned. Our hope is that every resident in Monticello can safely celebrate, observing the Iowa Department of Public Health guidelines.”

This holiday season, the MACC looks forward to coming together as a community and celebrating its member businesses through the chamber’s #ShopLocal #ShopSmall promotions and Chamber Bucks gift certificates.
