Compensation Board makes FY22 salary recommendations
The Jones County Compensation Board met on Jan. 11 to review elected officials’ Fiscal Year 2022 salaries for July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022. They recommended the following to the Jones County Board of Supervisors:
• County Attorney, a recommended 6 percent increase from $106,530.91 to $112,922.76 (a difference of $6,391.85)
• Sheriff, a recommended 6 percent increase from $91,677.59 to $97,178.24 (a difference of $5,500.66)
• County Auditor, a recommended 2 percent increase from $71,053.86 to $72,474.91 (a difference of $1,421.08)
• Treasurer, a recommended 3.5 percent increase from $68,915.23 to $71,327.26 (a difference of $2,412.03)
• Recorder, a recommended 3.5 percent increased from $66,474.93 to $68,801.55 (a difference of $2,326.62)
• County Supervisors, a recommended 2 percent increase from $30,900.55 to $31,518.56 (a difference of $618.01)
To aid in making their recommendations, the Compensation Board was provided with information regarding the Iowa State Association of Counties FY2021 salary survey, the consumer price index, and county levies and taxable property valuations.
During the Jan. 12 Jones County Supervisor meeting, the board voted to place the Compensation Board’s recommendations on file. No further action was taken.
Representing elected officials on the Compensation Board are: Mike Deutmeyer on behalf of the sheriff, Darrick Hall on behalf of the supervisors, Patty Manuel on behalf of the auditor, Dr. Lindsey Meyer on behalf of the attorney, Nels Petersen on behalf of the treasurer, Abram Tubbs on behalf of the recorder, and Kris Gobeli on behalf of the supervisors.
