COVID cases decline in MCSD, Jones County
After a few weeks of seeing an increase in COVID cases and exposures, the Monticello Community School District saw a decrease across the board last week.
Superintendent Brian Jaeger shared on Friday, Dec. 10, that the district had nine positive cases K-12 (students and staff). That’s a decrease of seven cases from the week prior.
There were 13 cases (students and staff) that the district was monitoring, meaning those in quarantine, waiting for COVID test results, or experiencing COVID-like symptoms. That number is also down by seven cases.
Jaeger offered the Iowa Department of Public Health’s seven-day positivity rate of 14 percent for Jones County.
“That’s down 10 percent from last week,” he said.
Jones County also had 65 cases reported in the last seven days, which is also down 23 cases from a week ago.
