Dairy goat webinar series continues in '24

   The Iowa State University Extension and Outreach dairy team will continue its dairy goat webinar series in 2024. All webinars will be from noon to 1:15 p.m.

   Topics will include timely updates on nutrition, biosecurity, improving milk quality, plus disease and health concerns.

   “Dairy goat production is an important industry in Iowa,” said Jenn Bentley, a dairy specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach.

   “We are very pleased to continue this educational opportunity with a lineup of quality speakers and presenters to provide producers and industry providers with practical take home information.”

   Upcoming webinar sessions are as follows:

   • Feb. 16 – Neonatal diarrhea in goat kids; Paul Plummer, Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

   • March 20 – Raising buck kids; Carolyn Ihde, small ruminant extension specialist, University of Wisconsin Extension/ISU Extension and Outreach.

   Additional sessions are as follows:

   • April 19 – Using functional type assessments to improve milk quality.

   • May 22 – Biosecurity: preparing for shows, health and identification requirements, keeping animals healthy at the fair.

   • Sept. 18 – Respiratory disease in dairy goats.

   • Oct. 23 – Small ruminant abortion diagnostics.

   November TBD – Common diseases in small ruminants and approach to farm management.

   There is no fee to attend the program; however, registration is required.
