Dennis Bayne, 76, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2024 at his home following a sudden illness. Friends may call from 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday evening, Feb. 8, 2024, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa. A Remembrance service will be held 11 a.m. Friday morning at Goettsch Funeral Home. Pastor Holly Knouse will officiate at the services. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
Surviving is his wife, Sandra; two children, Karmen (Ed) Hershey, Joe (Michelle) Bayne; eight grandchildren, Kellie, Kaitlin, Kacie, Cavan, Nate, Adrienne, Brianna and Madi; three great-grandchildren and another one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Timothy, his brother, Joe; and three sisters, Patricia, Janice and Judy; and a sister-in-law, Karen.
Dennis Larry Bayne was born Feb. 22,1947 at Anamosa, Iowa. He was the son of Ralph and Wilma Marshall, Bayne. Dennis graduated from Monticello Community Schools in 1965. He married Sandra Ellison on July 10, 1965. Dennis worked as a press operator at the Monticello Express. Dennis had a love of cooking. He made total a career change, attending the Culinary School at Kirkwood. He was a chef at Cottage Grove for a short time. He moved to Camp Courageous and was the chef and head of the Dietary Department for 12 years. In retirement he worked at the Eastern Iowa Airport and CRST as a scale technician. Dennis was on the original ambulance board in Monticello. He was an EMT for the ambulance service as well. He enjoyed cooking, traveling with Sandra, and especially time spent with his family.
