Staff report

The family of Winnie (Winifred) and Fred Williams, long-time community supporters in more ways than one, recently made generous donations to both the Monticello School District Foundation and the Monticello Community School District Athletic Department.

Both donations were at the bequest of the late Williamses.

Other donations made include: Jones Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, Jones Regional Medical Center Foundation, Anamosa Community School Foundation, Camp Courageous, Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, and the Anamosa Community School marching bad. (Both Winnie (Poppe) and Fred were graduates of the Anamosa High School Class of 1957.)

Kevin Williams, executor of the Williamses’ estate, made the donations to the Anamosa band, Monticello School Foundation, and the Monticello Athletic Department.

Fred passed away on Aug. 1, 2020, at the age of 82. Winnie passed away on July 13, 2021, at the age of 81.

Their children, Kevin (Faye) Williams and Greg (Jill) Williams, reside in Monticello and also carry on the tradition of giving back and remaining active within several organizations.
