Donna Haas Aug. 23, 1937 – Dec. 17, 2021

      Donna Haas, age 84, died unexpectedly, Friday, Dec. 17, 2021. Private family services will be held at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello with interment in Oakwood Cemetery.

      Surviving are two children, Pam Tschantz and Greg (Velvet) Haas, seven grandchildren, Tracy (Chad) Beitz, Jennifer (Dan) Jacobs, Brian (DezaRae) McElmeel, Tina (Aaron) Kurt, Trevor (Jeni) Haas, Tyson (Amelia) Haas, Brittany (Josh) Ries, 21 great-grandchildren and two siblings, Norma White and Dennis Hoover. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, John Meier and four brothers, William, Jim, Frank and Richard Hoover.

      Donna Mae Hoover was born Aug. 23, 1937 at Mt. Carroll, Ill. She was the daughter of Aloya and Esther Franks, Hoover. Donna attended school in Lanark, Ill. She started working at the Green Giant canning factory near Lanark. That is where she met her future husband, Gerald. Donna and Gerald Haas were married on Dec. 28, 1954 in Lanark. The couple moved to Monticello in 1963. Donna worked at Ertl Toy Company as a decaler. In 1969 she went to work at Polo Plastics in Monticello where she was the Team Leader in the sewing department. Donna retired in 1989 and worked occasionally at Orbis and Walmart. After Gerald's death in 2000, she took over caring for their acreage. She actually loved mowing her lawn. Donna loved to go for long walks, even to the point of walking all the way into town and back, to pick up her mail.
