Donna Schneider, 91, died peacefully Friday evening, April 18, 2025, at The Meadows at Stoney Point in Cedar Rapids.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Monticello with interment in Oakwood Cemetery. Fr. Paul Baldwin will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 until 7 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church where visitation will start with a parish Vigil Service. Visitation will resume Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Gathering Space at Sacred Heart Church. Thoughts, memories and condolences may be left at www.Goettschonline.com. Surviving is her husband of 68 years Marvin; three daughters, Rhonda (Scott) Schneider Smith, Rhenee (David) Regan, Rashelle (Brian) Tolan; her daughter-in-law, LuAnne Schneider; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and siblings, Joan Holmes, Joyce Wheelan, Marcia Brownell and Susan Casteel. She was preceded by her parents; a son Raymond; and a brother Clifford Schmidt Jr.
Donna Mae Schmidt was born Jan. 11, 1934, at Cedar Rapids, Iowa the daughter of Clifford and Leoma Hasley Schmidt Sr. Donna graduated from Norway High School with the Class of 1952. She worked at Collins Radio for seven years. Donna married Marvin Glen Schneider on Sept. 15, 1956 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. The couple made their home in Monticello where Marvin was a barber and Donna was a stay at home mom. After her children were older she returned to the work force working at Staner Plumbing and Heating. She and Marvin later operated the Colony Restaurant in Cedar Rapids for five years. They moved to Florida for 12 years where Donna was employed by Marriott in the marketing department. The couple returned to Monticello to be near family, and in 1996 Donna started working for Goettsch Funeral Home. She was a funeral assistant and monument specialist retiring in 2023.
Donna loved her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and tending to her garden and her flowers.
