GJCF Queen hosting build day for Sleep in Heavenly Peace

     Don’t miss an opportunity to make a difference in the community!

   The 2024 Great Jones County Fair Queen Addison Appelhans invites all ages to a community build day for Jones County’s Sleep (SHP) in Heavenly Sleep.

   SHP in a non-profit organization that builds and delivers beds to children who do not have a bed. Their motto: “No kid sleeps on the floor in our town!”

   The build day will take place on Sunday, May 4, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. inside the stalling barn at the Jones County Fairgrounds in Monticello. There will be two shifts: 1:30 to 3 p.m. and 3 to 4:30 p.m.

   Thirty to 40 volunteers are needed per shift, or you can sign up for the whole afternoon.

   All tools will be provided. Volunteers are encouraged to wear appropriate work clothes and sturdy shoes.

   Did you know that the mattress for one single bed cost around $70 each?

   If you can’t attend the build day, donations to SHP can be sent to Jones County Sleep in Heavenly Peace, P.O. Box 150, Monticello, IA 52310.

   Any amount is appreciated.

   Donations of bed sheets, bedding sets, pillowcases, etc. can be dropped off at the Fair Office, 800 N. Maple St., Monticello. (Note: These must be purchased new.)
