Heritage Center hosts ‘History Hour,’ June 27

The Monticello Heritage and Cultural Center will be hosting another special guest on Tuesday, June 27 as part of their “Monticello History Hour” series.

Heritage Center board member Bob Hendricks will be visiting with Joy Adams via Facebook Live at 7 p.m. Tune in on the Heritage Center’s Facebook page.

From volunteering at Riverside Gardens, to local history, to her art teaching experiences, Adams has been involved in the Monticello community in many ways. She has studied so much about Daniel Varvel, the first to settle in Monticello, and the Military Trail.

Adams has helped with the making of historic and one-of-a-kind quilts, cookbooks, and art projects for the community.

She knows and enjoys telling stories about local Doctor Benadom.

Adams has been a long-time member of the Garden Club and helped to make this community beautiful from one side of town to the other. You’ve likely seen Adams and other volunteers working at Riverside, Fountain Park (the “Y” park), or around the swimming pool.

She will also share information on a significant area of her personal property called “Killas Springs” and its rich history.
