Heritage Center hosts ‘History Hour,' July 25

     The Monticello Heritage and Cultural Center will be hosting another special guest on Tuesday, July 25 as part of their “Monticello History Hour” series.

   Heritage Center board member Bob Hendricks will be visiting with Doug Monk via Facebook Live at 7 p.m. Tune in on the Heritage Center’s Facebook page.

   You will learn about Monk’s life experiences growing up in an around Monticello. He’ll touch on some of his memories of local businesses and history that others may not know about. Monk will also talk about his book, “On the Trail of Lyman Dillon,” and what it was like to retrace Dillon’s footsteps along Old Military Road.

   Finally, he’ll share about his work experience and what brings the Monk family such joy residing in Jones County.

   The Heritage Center is located at 211 N. Sycamore St. They are open on Tuesdays from 6 to 8 p.m., and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m.
