Insights from the Monticello Area Chamber of Commerce
As August begins to dwindle, there is excitement in the air as Monticello looks forward to the next season. Before we “fall” into upcoming events, the Monticello Chamber would like to reflect on what we have been doing.
The Monticello Area Chamber of Commerce (MACC) had a fantastic time supporting Monticello Main Street at Monti Days, Aug. 9-10. I learned from this event that I am NOT a fan of frozen pickle juice. If you are curious if your tastebuds would fancy a frozen pickle pop, try them for yourself at Whiffle Tree Mercantile. While I learned that lesson the hard way, it was easy to enjoy all of the activities Monti Days had to offer. Take a look for yourself at all of the fun by visiting Flynn Photography’s Facebook page for snapshots of the events, or by following MACC on TikTok @sayhellotoMonticello, or our Facebook page!
Catch Monticello Main Street’s next event happening on Sunday, Sept. 15, as they gear up for the Monti in Motion Car Show!
MACC would like to thank 7th Street Stone Company for sponsoring MACC’s ticket to attend Camp Courageous’ 45th Annual Pineapple Gala. I had the wonderful opportunity to celebrate the 7th Street Stone Company owner’s birthday, as he chose to spend his day supporting Camp Courageous. Don’t worry if you missed his chance to support Camp Courageous, as they will be hosting their annual Waffle Breakfast and Open House on Sunday, Sept. 29, from 8 a.m. to noon.
The morning following the Pineapple Gala, I joined 99 other participants to race in the 2024 Panther Prowl Walk/Run 5/10K, sponsored by BE Strong Fitness & Yoga and Jones Regional Medical Center Monticello Clinic. I came to regret the delicious meal I had the night before at the Pineapple Gala, but I made it across the finish line along with the other supportive runners.
The MACC Ambassadors had the delightful opportunity to attend the “New Teacher’s Welcome Breakfast” at the high school on Aug. 19. The Ambassadors had the chance to mingle with incoming teachers and their mentors over breakfast. The MACC wishes students, teachers, and staff a happy school year!
Are you tired of reading about MACC news? Well give those eyes a rest and tune into KDST 99.3 every third Wednesday of the month to hear members or myself speak about the happenings in Monticello.
Better yet, stop by the Chamber Office at 204 E. First St., Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; call 319-465-5626 or email chamber@macc-ia.us.
