JCBP gears up for National Beef Month

May is National Beef Month, a month-long celebration of all things beef-related. The Jones County Beef Producers are gearing up for Beef Month through local beef promotion projects.

The “Beef Readers Program” is an enhancement of the Junior Beef Readers initiative we launched last year. This reading challenge will take place from May 1st to May 31st. Its primary goal remains to foster agricultural literacy and promote school readiness through age-appropriate reading.

However, this year, the program has been expanded to encourage participation from individuals of all ages.

We invite you to join in the fun for a chance to win exciting prizes including an Amazon Fire Tablet and more! The age categories for participation are as follows:

   • Juniors: Pre-K to sixth grade.

   • Intermediate: seventh to 12th grade.

   • Senior: Adults.

To be eligible for the prize drawing, participants must register for the program by April 30th, track their reading on our reading log from May 1 to May 31, and submit a completed reading log by June 4.

For more information, please visit our Facebook page at Jones County Beef Producers.

In addition, our organization has partnered with the Jones County Farm Bureau, Fareway Monticello, Fareway Anamosa, and the Iowa Beef Council to launch an exciting promotion in Jones County. The first of our BEEF promotion signs have officially debuted!

Billboards along Highway 151 between Anamosa and Monticello are now promoting beef, visible from both directions. These advertisements will be displayed now through August; be sure to check them out. We encourage residents to be on the lookout for additional Beef Promotion signs appearing throughout Jones County soon.

As we prepare to enhance our promotional efforts for beef, we would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who supports local producers, our organization, and the enjoyment of beef. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to an industry that we hold near and dear to our hearts. Your support not only sustains local farmers and ranchers but also strengthens our community's connection to agriculture.

By choosing to eat beef, you are contributing to a cycle of economic vitality and environmental stewardship that benefits everyone.

We are excited about the upcoming events and initiatives that will further celebrate and promote the importance of beef in our daily lives. Together, let's make this Beef Month memorable and impactful, celebrating the hard work and dedication of those who make it all possible.

Stay tuned for more updates through our Facebook page.
