Junior varsity Panthers score season-opening win

   Brady Gogel passed for 133 yards and two touchdowns, both to Jerin McElmeel, as the Monticello junior varsity football team opened its season with a 30-20 win at Mount Vernon Aug. 25.

   Jerin McElmeel finished with five catches for 103 yards. Lincoln Schneiter rushed 17 times for 75 yards, and Gogel had 13 carries for 60 yards and two scores. Ryker Hein also scored a touchdown.

   Defensively, Isaac Kray had a 53-yard interception return. Jerin McElmeel had an interception and two fumble recoveries.

   Leading tacklers were Gogel with five, Keegan McElmeel and Jerin McElmeel with four each.
