There appears to have been a communication error in regards to the new logo that was painted on the city's south water tower.

During the June 3 Monticello City Council meeting, City Administrator Russ Farnum and Engineer Colton Ingels, with Snyder & Associates, provided the council with an update on the project.

"They (contractor Tank Pro, Inc.) disinfected the tower last week," Ingels shared. "They are filling the tower up today."

On the council's agenda was action to approve the third pay request from Tank Pro in the amount of $67,514.60. This payment covers full completion of interior dry painting, exterior intermediate painting, interior distribution and supply pipe painting and insulation, and partial completion of the exterior finish painting.

While the council did approve the pay request, Council member Dave Goedken questioned the completed tasks.

The project called for two logos on the tower, on the west and east sides. Goedken said one of the logos is not visible to traveling vehicles.

"The east logo looks great," he praised. "I want to complement the east logo; it's highly visible. The west one goes off into farm country."

He asked Farnum what the cost for a second logo amounted to, which is $3,500.

"We're working on correcting that," offered Farnum of the non-visible logo. "They painted it per the engineer's request; we didn't ask for it to face a cornfield. We're looking at the cost to remove the logo they painted and add one that is visible toward Langworthy and 151 like we originally wanted. We're discussing with Snyder & Associates how to resolve that and the revised cost."
