Main Street Iowa will provide added resources of Monticello

To the Editor,
As many of you are becoming aware of the Monticello Main Street Iowa efforts, I would first like to commend all the volunteers who are donating their time to spread what this program truly has to offer for the Monticello community. Please consider supporting our efforts in improving and revitalizing the downtown.
I had the privilege to move to Monticello after my college career; it was the perfect fit for me and I was welcomed into the community. Monticello has so much to offer – we have recreational sports, we are booming with retail businesses, and a community that is motivated to grow and evolve. Now is our time to show others the great potential our community has to offer for them and their families. I have had the pleasure of joining this diverse committee since January and the support is growing every day.
As an individual in her late twenties and the possibility of having a family someday, I am motivated to beautify the Main Street of Monticello, increase housing, and witness economic development. I’m hoping that soon Monticello will become a destination spot for many. We have so much to offer here, but we’re lacking in areas such as art and sculptures, minimal housing, the upkeep on facades, and having resources readily available to help businesses improve.
Main Street Iowa is the perfect solution for Monticello. This program will allow stability and continuously offer our businesses and entire community with resources, information, and access to grants for growth and improvement. It is a well-known program on a local, state, and national level.
Please join me in supporting and investing in the efforts for Monticello to become a Main Street Iowa designated community. Pledges of support can be made online through the “Monticello, IA Main Street” Facebook page, or pledge cards are available at Whiffle Tree Mercantile.
Sincerely,
