SALUTE TO FFA WEEK

   Officers in the Maquoketa Valley FFA chapter juggle leadership and chapter activities, all while planning for the future.

   Here is a look at this year’s officers.

 

   Name: Haley Ronnebaum

   Year in school: Junior

   Office held: President

   Parents/Guardians: Mitch and Jenny Ronnebaum

   Hometown: Earlville

   SAE project: Working at Ronnebaum Dairy.

   FFA activities: Team Ag Sales, Floriculture, Livestock Judging, Dairy Judging, Milk Quality and Products, and community service activities.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: “The hotel flooding at the National Convention in 2022, and we had to evacuate at 11 p.m. that night.”

   Future plans: Attend Iowa State or the University of Minnesota to study to become a veterinarian.

  

   Name: Alia Domeyer

   Year in school: Junior

   Office held: Vice President

   Parents/Guardians: Dewey and Jeannie Domeyer

   Hometown: Delhi

   SAE project: “Caring for my small dairy herd and raising my heifers to be show animals, and working at a local dairy farm, where I milk cows.”

   FFA activities: Dairy Judging, Creed Speaking, Ag Biotech, Livestock Judging, Chapter and Greenhand Tests. “This year I am focused on Prepared Public Speaking.”

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: “Being announced as top three in the nation for Dairy Evaluation. The thrill and suspense of that, along with the excitement when we found out how well we did and that we would be going to Europe because of it was a feeling I will never forget. Along with the journey to get there are some of my fondest memories with my brother and friends.”

   Future plans: Undecided. “I do think I want to go to Iowa State. I have some majors I mind but I have not been able to limit them, including marketing, accounting, animal nutrition, ag business, or genetics.”

  

   Name: Lucas Orcutt

   Year in school: Senior

   Office held: Vice President

   Parents/Guardians: Mitch and Cheri Orcutt

   Hometown: Delhi

   SAE project: Farmhand at local dairy farm.

   FFA activities: Officer, Ag Sales, Dairy Judging.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Placing seventh in State Dairy Judging.

   Future plans: Attend a two-year school for ag business.

  

   Name: Kody Hoeger

   Year in school: Junior

   Office held: Secretary

   Parents/Guardians: Dan and Donna Hoeger

   Hometown: Earlville

   SAE project: Working on our farm milking dairy cows, raising beef cattle, and growing crops.

   FFA activities: Farm Business Management, Soil Judging, Agronomy, Ag Mechanics, Conduct of Meetings, Greenhand and Chapter Tests.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Attending State and National Conventions.

   Future plans: “I plan to continue working on our family farm raising livestock and growing crops.”

  

   Name: Dannielle Burkle

   Year in school: Senior

   Office held: Treasurer

   Parents/Guardians: Dennis and Sherry Burkle

   Hometown: Earlville

   SAE project: Burkle Dairy Farm.

   FFA activities: State FFA Dairy Handling, Floriculture, Ag Biotechnology, Farm Business Management, Virtual Meat Judging, Conduct of Meetings, National Dairy Handling.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: “Competing in Dairy Handling at the National FFA Convention. I was outside my usual comfort zone, pushing me to meet and talk to other members from various states.”

   Future plans: “I plan to attend NICC in Peosta to begin my pre-vet studies. After two years at NICC, I will transfer to Iowa State and hopefully be accepted into its veterinary program.”

  

   Name: Landin Frasher

   Year in school: Senior

   Office held: Sentinel

   Parents/Guardians: Jeff and Tiersa Frasher

   Hometown: Delhi

   SAE project: “My job at Tanman Construction, where we build new homes and do remodels.”

   FFA activities: Farm Business Management, Poultry Evaluation.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: “When we traveled to the State Convention and went around to all the different booths and stations in the event center.

   Future plans: Undecided.

  

   Name: Lainey Knipper

   Year in school: Junior

   Office held: Reporter

   Parents/Guardians: Carmen and Mark Knipper

   Hometown: Hopkinton

   SAE project: Breeding, meat and show goat production.

   FFA activities: Officer, Ag Biotechnology, showing at the County Fair, helping to organize Farm Safety Day, FFA Week.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: “Going to the National Convention in Indianapolis, Ind. It was a lot of fun to see all of the different people who are involved in FFA, and we all travel to one place just to learn about the organization we are all a part of.”

   Future plans: Going to Iowa State to become a family and consumer science teacher.
