Mary Ellen Nosbish Feb. 22, 1936 –March 10, 2025

    Mary Ellen Nosbish, 89, of Monticello, passed away Monday, March 10, 2025, at Mercy Hospice House in Hiawatha.

    Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello where a funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery with Rev. Paul Baldwin officiating.

    Mary Ellen was born on Feb. 22, 1936, in Sand Springs, Iowa, daughter of George and Florence (Jurgens) Heims. She married Bob Nosbish on Oct. 16, 1954, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello.

    Mary graduated from Sacred Heart High School. She was a proud member of the first Parochial Team to win the State Basketball Championship in Iowa. She was very devout in her faith and lived for the Lord. Mary belonged to the Red Hat Ladies.

    Survivors include her sister-in-law, Rosemary (Heims) Turnis; nieces and nephews; and many friends.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; daughter, Denise Springer; siblings: Laura Perez-Mesa, William Heims, Louis Heims; and niece, Joani Heims.
