Midland officers show versatility

FFA WEEK

   Officers in the Midland FFA Chapter show not only a variety of skills and contributions to the chapter, but also a wide range of hopes and plans for the future.

   Here is a look at this year’s Midland officers.

 

   Name: Owen Sterk

   Year in school: Senior

   Office held: President

   Parents/Guardians: Shawn and Teri Sterk

   Hometown: Wyoming

   SAE project: Working for Rodgers Concrete and S&W Pork.

   FFA activities: Conduct of Meetings, Parliamentary Procedure, Experience the Action, Livestock Judging, Ag Issues, Meetings, Highway Cleanup and Feed a Farmer.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Making it to State in Ag Issues and getting to present our issue to Mike Naig, Iowa Secretary of Agriculture.

   Future plans: Go right into the workforce or get into a trade program.

 

   Name: Jayson Ruley

   Year in school: Junior

   Office held: Vice President

   Parents/Guardians: Dean and Cheri Ruley

   Hometown: Oxford Junction

   SAE project: Website of Ag History articles I have written: “Jayson’s Articles Contributing to Knowledge.

   FFA activities: Color Run, FFA Homecoming Float, Industry Tour, Fruit Sales, Wreath-Making, Night Meetings, We-Care Packages, Feed a Farmer, M&M Explore Day, Ag Biotechnology, Conduct of Meetings, Nursery Landscape, Parliamentary Procedure.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Night Meetings are always fun and satisfying for me, especially when you plan it, watch it develop, and see it come to fruition. It’s always great to see that your work is appreciated.

   Future plans: I plan on continuing my FFA Officer career with planning and competitions. After high school I plan on attending college for engineering.

 

   Name: Morgan Hollingshead

   Year in school: Junior

   Office held: Reporter

   Parents/Guardians: Nick Hollingshead and Sara Hollingshead

   Hometown: Wyoming

   SAE project: Sales at Walmart

   FFA activities: Ag Issues, Creed, Hockey Games, Bowling, Highway Cleanup, We-Care Packages (shopping, making and delivering), Farm Safety, Greenhand Fire-Up, Banquets, Floriculture and more.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Officer Retreat, and being able to donate We-Care Packages to three food pantries in our community.

   Future plans: To attend Kirkwood online to complete programming to become a paralegal.

 

   Name: Wyatt Christiansen

   Year in school: Sophomore

   Office held: Treasurer

   Parents/Guardians: Jerimiah and Debra Christiansen

   Hometown: Baldwin

   SAE project: Beef and Swine Entrepreneurship and Placement in Food Processing.

   FFA activities: Career Scene Investigation (CSI), Ag Issues, Poultry, Livestock Judging, Ag Mechanics, Highway Cleanup. Farm Safety, Fun Run, Christmas Lights, M&M Explore Day, Banquets, Meetings and Fundraising.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Showing cattle at fairs (local, county and state), and Beef Expo.

   Future plans: To continue to raise cattle.

 

   Name: Theo Baumer

   Year in school: Sophomore

   Office held: Sentinel

   Parents/Guardians: Katie and Steve Baumer

   Hometown: Onslow

   SAE project: Beef Entrepreneurship.

   FFA activities: Career Scene Investigation (CSI), Experience the Action, Night Meetings, Color Run, Christmas Lights, Parades, Officer Retreat, Livestock Judging, Ag Mechanics.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Becoming an officer and getting to grow in FFA within competitions such as ETA and CSI going to State.

   Future plans: To go into diesel mechanics or welding.
