Monticello Farmers Market

This week at Willow Park the produce will be taking over the tables and we all have something to be thankful for! All the customers at farmers market this week can sign up for the Customer Appreciation drawings. Watch for the sign to put your name in to win a variety of goods from all the vendors each day. The vendors are generous in donating items to this event because they know each customer is important to the success of our local market! The lucky winners are called back to market to pick up the goods the same day.

This week visitors can expect to find onions, beets, peppers, green beans, mixed greens, eggplant, tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes, cabbage, summer squash, and herbs. Whew – the list is getting longer! Add a dozen farm fresh eggs, some baked treats, honey, soap, homemade fabric or jewelry gift with a one of a kind card, and casual conversation. This one stop shop is an opportunity to support your local farmers or crafters and feel good about knowing the producer personally. What a warm feeling!

Our vendor spotlight is on Kelly Fleming with Something Green. She is a Monticello native and has a variety of baked goods, fresh and dried herbs, eggs, and seasonal fruits and veggies. This is the second season at market for Kelly and she enjoys the community interactions as well as using creative energy for new sweet treats and table displays. Customer favorites are English muffin bread, protein bites, rhubarb, big selection of herbs, and fruit and cheese braids. Something Green can be found on Facebook with interactive updates on her creations, market updates, and farm happenings. Kelly is at the Monticello market on Saturdays and occasional Wednesdays and is always available by email or messenger for special requests. She is credentialed to accept WIC, EBT, and credit cards.

The tomatoes are starting to turn and the sweet corn is showing up in some places – we'll be adding them to the list and look forward to the rush for these two summer favs! Bring your shopping lists with you at the market!
