Monticello seniors share experiences, plans

   Seniors in the Monticello FFA Chapter show not only a variety of skills and contributions to the chapter, but also a wide range of hopes and plans for the future.

   Here is a look at this year’s chapter seniors.

 

   Name: Dru Boffeli

   Parents/Guardians: Shawn Boffeli and Keri Honkomp

   SAE project: Working on a farm. Breeding and raising horse.

   FFA activities: Ignite and Amplify.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Going to Ignite with Tyler Soppe.

   Future plans: Becoming an equipment operator.

 

   Name: Brennan Bohlken

   Parents/Guardians: Mandy Hanken and Shane Bohlken

   SAE project: Fareway.

   FFA activities: Horse Judging, Nursery Landscape, Parliamentary Procedure, State Ag Sales, State Ag Business Management, National Convention, State Convention.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: National Convention.

   Future plans: I am going to the University of Northern Iowa to study education.

 

   Name: Reed Brunscheen

   Parents/Guardians: Dan and Megan Brunscheen

   SAE project: Working at Triangle Ag Services.

   FFA activities: Conduct of Meetings, Farm Business Management, Feed the Farmers, Ag Ed Day and Build a Burger.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: State Convention last year.

   Future plans: Going to Upper Iowa University to study finance.

 

   Name: Ava Capron

   Office held: Vice President

   Parents/Guardians: Ben and Mindy Capron

   SAE project: Equine and poultry.

   FFA activities: National Convention, State Convention, leadership conferences.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Receiving my State Degree, and all the friends I made through FFA.

   Future plans: Attend the University of Northern Iowa to study nursing.

 

   Name: Valerie Cupples

   Parents/Guardians: Elizabeth Cupples

   SAE project: Fareway.

   FFA activities: Fruit Basket making

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Driving a tractor on Ag Day

   Future plans: Work at a vet clinic for a year and then go to school to become a vet tech.

 

   Name: Seneca Freeze

   Parents/Guardians: Nathan and Courtney Freeze

   SAE project: Show sheep, and Sandhill Farms.

   FFA activities: Showing.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: FFA Week.

   Future plans: Two-year college to study in a veterinary technician program.

 

   Name: Reeve Graver

   Parents/Guardians: Dawn and Greg Graver

   SAE project: Moving snow, and Chappell Machine Co.

   FFA activities: Greenhand.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Driving a truck or tractor to school.

   Future plans: Welding trades.

 

   Name: Hailey Henderson

   Parents/Guardians: Chad and Missy Henderson

   SAE project: Equine and sheep production.

   FFA activities: National Convention, State Convention, Ignite Conference, Build a Burger, District Horse Judging, State Horse Judging.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Going to National Convention freshman year.

   Future plans: Attend the University of Iowa and major in pharmacy.

 

   Name: Natalie Henderson

   Parents/Guardians: Chad and Missy Henderson

   SAE project: Hidden Rock Ranch beef.

   FFA activities: Ignite Conference, National Convention, State Convention, State Horse Judging, Feed the Farmers.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Going to National Convention.

   Future plans: Attend Kirkwood Community College for fire science and technology, and then go on to be a firefighter.

 

   Name: Tate Jesenovec

   Parents/Guardians: Mike and Kay Jesenovec

   SAE project: Family farm and employment at Eilertson’s.

   FFA activities: Greenhand Fireup, Amplify, Parliamentary Procedure.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Spending time and exploring FFA National Convention with my friends.

   Future plans: Continue to work at Eilertson’s.

 

   Name: Leah Koehler

   Parents/Guardians: Ted and Karla Koehler

   SAE project: Dairy and beef cattle care, home garden.

   FFA activities: Conduct of Meetings, Prepared Speech, Parliamentary Procedure, Vet Science, Food Science, Milk Quality and Products.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Making the “Sweet Pig Luau” energy bar for Food Science CDE.

   Future plans: Attend Iowa State University with a major in chemical engineering and a minor in agronomy.

 

   Name: Madilynn Kromminga

   Parents/Guardians: Chad and Kari Kromminga

   SAE project: Vegetable garden.

   FFA activities: National Convention, Greenhand Fireup, Ignite, Fruit Baskets (Food Pantry), and Feed the Farmers.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Going to National Convention.

   Future plans: I am going to Kirkwood Community College in the physical therapy assistant program.

 

   Name: Lily Moestchen

   Parents/Guardians: Ryan and Nicole Moestchen

   SAE project: Chickens (previously).

   FFA activities: Fruit Basket planning, Eighth-Grade Tour planning and assisting, State Fair stage attendant, State Convention (Marketing Plan, Poulty Judging), National Convention, Greenhand Fireup, Monthly Meetings,  FFA/NHS Garden, Fall Fest.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Spending 12 days at the State Fair working at the Anne and Bill Riley Free Stage, meeting some cool artists, running the talent show, exploring the fair, and most importantly meeting friends for a lifetime.

   Future plans: Attend North Dakota State University to study architecture.

 

   Name: Logan Moestchen

   Parents/Guardians: Ryan and Nicole Moestchen

   SAE project: Freese Motors work experience, and layer chickens.

   FFA activities: State poultry.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: State Degree.

   Future plans: Go to DMACC for the Ford asset program and become a Ford Motors technician.

 

   Name: Alex Prull

   Parents/Guardians: Todd and Michelle Prull

   SAE project: Working on the farm at home.

   FFA activities: Feed the Farmers, Fruit Sales, State Convention, National Convention, Team Ag Sales, Conduct of Meetings, Parliamentary Procedure, Ag Business Management, and Nursery Landscape.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: The State Degree awards ceremony.

   Future plans: Attending Iowa State University.

 

   Name: Tyler Soppe

   Parents/Guardians: Courtney and Curtis Soppe

   SAE project: Sheep.

   FFA activities: Horse judging, participated in Ag-Biotech and Nursery Landscape at State Convention, National Convention, Fruit Sales, Greenhand, Chapter and State Degrees, Showing sheep at county fair, Meals from the Heartland, Feed the Farmers.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Going to Indianapolis.

   Future plans: Continue working on my grandpa’s farm.

 

   Name: Alyssa Wickman

   Parents/Guardians: Amy and Alan Wickman

   SAE project: Century House Gifts and Flowers, Minn-Tex, Jones County Youth Beef Team.

   FFA activities: National Convention, State Convention, Feed the Farmers, Fruit Baskets.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Becoming President, and following the pattern of both of my brothers being president.

   Future plans: Attend Kirkwood Community College to complete the rest of my general education credits before transferring to Mount Mercy University and Finishing out my elementary education degree.

 

   Name: Will Wolken

   Parents/Guardians: Michael and Teresa Wolken

   SAE project: Wolken Trucking and Farm, Hosch Trucking.

   FFA activities: Iowa FFA Degree, Monticello Chapter Fall Fest, Hay and Grain Show, Conduct of Meetings Team, Parliamentary Procedures Team, Ag Sales.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Going to National Convention in 2022.

   Future plans: Go to Iowa State to get a degree in agriculture business.
