Panthers go indoors, outdoors

   Monticello went from its biggest indoor meet of the season to its first outdoor competition in the space of three days as the boys track schedule picked up last week.

   The Panthers had the most success during the Steve Roth Relays outdoor meet March 27 in Washington, Iowa.

   There, they placed in the top three in seven events while competing in Class B of the three-class meet. Overall, the Panthers were 13^th out of 30 teams, but in Class B they took sixth.

   Monticello scored a win in the distance medley relay with the team of Tait Luensman, Jasper Tobiason, Tate Jesenovec and Alex Jamison, in 3:50.76.

   The Panthers were second in three events; Urijah Etzel in the 100-meter hurdles, 16.33; and Mace Schnoor in the 1,600, 4:53.58.

   Aedan Althoff was third in the 3,200, and Monticello was third in both the 4x800 and 4x100 relays.

   At the River Valley Conference indoor meet March 25 at the University of Dubuque, the Panthers scored 11 points to finish 15^th as a team.

   Althoff had the top finish, taking third in the 1,600.
