Madilynn Kromminga shot a 46 to earn meet medalist honors, and the Monticello girls golf team scored a 205 to 214 victory over Cascade in a dual meet April 28 at Fillmore.

“Madilynn led the way to another really good team win,” Monticello coach Allison Manternach said.

“This was our best performance away from our home course, which is positive momentum leading into the conference and postseason meets.”

Karli Manternach shot 50 to finish third individually. Mya Hansen had a 53, Bailey Brenneman and Hailey Henderson each totaled 56, and Lilly Stoll came in with a 57.

The results weren’t quite so good at the Wildcat Invitational May 2, hosted by Durant at Wahkonsa. There, the Panthers finished eighth as a team.

“After a strong showing Monday we struggled a bit more as a team on Friday,” coach Manternach said.

“The greens challenged us with more undulation and break than what we’re used to, but we are continuing to work on that aspect of our game.”

Kromminga again led the Panthers, with a 109 in the 18-hole tournament. Stoll shot 115, Brenneman had a 118, and Manternach rounded out the team scoring with a 121.
