Projects, activities occupy Midland FFA officers

SALUTE TO FFA WEEK

   This year’s Midland FFA Chapter officers have led and participated in many activities, while thinking about the future and managing a variety of SAE projects.

   Here is a capsule look at the Midland officer team.

 

   Name: Jayson Ruley

   Year in school: Senior

   Office held: President

   Parents/Guardians: Dean and Cheri Ruley

   Hometown: Oxford Junction

   SAE project: A website of history and agricultural based essays known as JACK (Jayson's Articles Contributing to Knowledge).

   FFA activities: Night meetings, Petting Zoo, Farm Safety, MMC Ag Explore Day, “We Care” Packages, Sub-District Volleyball. among others. 

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Reserve champion in Ag Biotechnology in 2024; Feed a Farmer events.

   Future plans: Attending Iowa State University majoring in Engineering.

 

   Name: Morgan Hollingshead

   Year in school: Senior

   Office held: Vice President

   Parents/Guardians: Nick Hollingshead and Sara Hollingshead

   Hometown: Wyoming

   SAE project: Placement at Hale Supper Club.

   FFA activities: Creed Speaking, Floriculture, Ag Issues, Highway Clean-up, “We Care” packages, Meals for Farmers.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Visiting National Convention and meeting other people.

   Future plans: Attend Kirkwood Community College and become a paralegal.

 

   Name: Olivia Paulsen

   Year in school: Senior

   Office held: Secretary

   Parents/Guardians: Greg and Deb Paulsen

   Hometown: Onslow

   SAE project: Milking Dairy Cows and working at the Monticello Vet Clinic.

   FFA activities: Poultry, Conduct of Meetings, Ag Issues, Livestock Judging, Night Meetings, Feed a Farmer and many more.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Going to National FFA Convention.

   Future plans: Attend Kirkwood Community College for Animal Science and transfer to a university.

 

   Name: Logan Rockwell

   Year in school: Senior

   Office held: Sentinel

   Parents/Guardians: Jeremy and Amanda Rockwell

   Hometown: Wyoming

   SAE project: Franzen Family Tractors and Combine Parts, LLC and Balichek Farms.

   FFA activities: BBQ team, Conduct of Meetings, Parliamentary Procedure, Poultry.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Attending National Convention.

   Future plans: Earn my CDL and become a heavy equipment operator.

 

   Name: Wyatt Christiansen

   Year in school: Junior

   Office held: Treasurer

   Parents/Guardians: Jerimiah and Debra Christiansen

   Hometown: Baldwin

   SAE project: Raising Cattle and Swine, Food Processing  and Placement at Risius Vet Clinic.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Going to National Convention.

   Future plans: Continue to build on my herds and farm.

 

   Name: Sophia Hunter

   Year in school: Junior

   Office held: Reporter

   Parents/Guardians: Sheldon and Andrea Hunter

   Hometown: Wyoming

   SAE project: Placement at Anamosa Floral and Photography business.

   FFA activities: Ag CSI, Experience the Action, Chapter Program, Floriculture, Ski Trip, Feed a Farmer, Petting Zoo, Night Meetings, Banquets, State and National Convention.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Growing our chapter's social media and starting a informational but humorous tictok page.

   Future plans: Agricultural and family photographer.

 

   Name: Isabelle Hollingshead

   Year in school: Junior

   Office held: Reporter

   Parents/Guardians: Nick Hollingshead and Sara Hollingshead

   Hometown: Wyoming

   SAE project: Placement at McDonalds.

   FFA activities: Ag Impact, Floriculture, Conduct of Meetings, Chapter Program, Ski trip, Night meetings, and Banquets.

   Most memorable FFA activity or accomplishment: Earning a trip to state as an eighth-grader in Ag Impact.

   Future plans: Earn my CNA and then attend Kirkwood and become an occupational Therapy Assistant.
