Ruth "Betty" E. Lambert April 15, 1931–June 8, 2025

Ruth “Betty” E. Lambert, 94, of Olin, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids, surrounded by the love of her family. A visitation was held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Dawson Funeral Services in Olin. A celebration of her life began at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest at the Olin Cemetery.

Betty was born on April 15, 1931, at Mercy Hospital in Davenport, Iowa, to Edward and Lucille (Ales) Cavey. She grew up in the Toronto area, attending Toronto Public School and graduating from Wheatland High School in 1948. She went on to earn her beauty certificate from the Paris Academy in Cedar Rapids and worked at several beauty salons throughout her life.

On Jan. 28, 1950, she married Marvin “Bob” Kreger. Together, they built a life full of hard work, raising their family and farming in the Olin area before purchasing and operating the Olin Hardware Store. After Bob’s passing in 1975, Betty continued to work and help wherever she was needed, including working at her brother’s restaurant, Cavey’s Café, Cavey’s Drugstore, and Cavey’s Hardware. Her heart was always in caring for others.

On July 31, 1983, Betty married Glenn Lambert in Monticello. Their years together brought companionship and joy until his passing in 2013.

Betty’s family was the center of her world. Nothing brought her more joy than family get-togethers and holiday celebrations. She was most at home in the kitchen, cooking and baking for entertaining family and friends. Her home was filled with the aroma of home-cooked food, the sound of laughter, and the warmth of her love. She was also an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and of course loved to tailgate.

She is survived by her four devoted children, Pamela (Gary) Medhus of Gilman, Michael (Jody) Kreger of Waukee, Trish Eichhorn (Don Reynolds) of Cedar Rapids, and Jackie (Darin) Thierer of Cedar Rapids; six cherished grandchildren; and 11 adored great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Bob and Glenn; her brothers, Bob, David, and Donald Cavey; and her son-in-law, Don Reynolds.

Betty will be remembered for her strength, her generosity, and the way she made everyone feel welcome. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and all who were lucky enough to know her.
