Sheriff’s Report

     A two-vehicle accident took place on March 7 at 8:36 a.m. near County Road E-34 and Highway 1. Jacob Romero Bourgeois, 28, of Monticello was driving a 2017 Hyundai Accent SE in the right turning lane. Dawn Denise DeMean, 50, of Springville was driving a 2019 GMC Acadia SLT-1, traveling in the south lane. Bourgeois made a left-hand turn in front of DeMean from the right turning lane. Bourgeois was found to be at-fault. No injuries were reported. Damage to Bourgeois’ vehicle was estimated at $5,000. Damage to DeMean’s vehicle was estimated at $3,000.

     A car versus deer accident took place on March 7 at 3:59 p.m. on the Highway 151 ramp to Highway 64. Twyla Rose Pereira, 27, of Dubuque was driving a 2021 Honda Pilot Touring when she encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to Pereira’s vehicle was estimated at $1,500.

     A two-vehicle accident took place on March 6 at 12:27 a.m. near the intersection of 120th Street and Monroe Avenue north of Stanwood. Scott William McGlaughlin, 50, of Wilton was driving a 2021 Ford Explorer police/squad car. Derrick Scott Maschmann, 23, of Clarence was driving a 1977 Ford Ranger northbound on Monroe Avenue as he was eluding law enforcement. Maschmann proceeded onto 120th Street, traveling west, when he got stuck in the mud. McGlaughlin, whose vehicle was fully marked, with lights and sirens in use, proceeded to use his push-bumper to strike the driver’s side of Maschmann’s vehicle to keep him from fleeing on foot. No injuries were reported. Both vehicles sustained approximately $1,500 in damages.

     A car versus deer accident took place on March 2 at 7 p.m. on the Highway 151. Ann Marie Brandt, 48, of Marion was driving a 2020 Chevy Equinox Premier when she encountered a deer in the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to Brandt’s vehicle was estimated at $2,000.
