Thanks for supporting food pantry; need continues

To the Editor,
The Monticello Food Pantry Steering Committee wishes to thank Monticello residents, organizations, schools, churches, and businesses for the recent outpouring of support for the food pantry. The generous checks, donated food, hygiene products, eggs and fresh garden produce have made it possible for us to help many neighbors in need this summer. We have been averaging serving 75 households monthly.
On Oct. 28, the Scouts will be doing their annual food drive (Scouting for Food) for the pantry, collecting the sacks that will be hanging on doorknobs. Cold cereals, soups, and canned chicken or tuna are some of the food items we need regularly. Also, hygiene supplies are appreciated, such as toilet paper, Kleenex, and regular-sized soap and shampoo.
For those who would prefer the convenience of writing a check for tax purposes, checks should be made payable to the MMA (Monticello Ministerial Association), with “Food Pantry” written on the memo line. Mail to: P.O. Box 62, Monticello, IA 52310. The MMA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
With gratitude,
Monticello Food Pantry
