Tim Connelly Feb. 14, 1949 – July 1, 2021

      Tim Connelly, 72, of Marion, passed away from a sudden illness on July 1, 2021 at University Hospital, Iowa City. He was surrounded by his loving family and is survived by his wife, Sharon, and his daughter, Kaitie. Also surviving Tim are his brothers, Mike Connelly of Monticello, twin brother Terry (Vickie) Connelly of Lowden; in-laws Marilyn (John) Heiken of Monticello, Albert Hanssen of Monticello; Sam (Joyce) Willms of Olympia, Wash.; Pete (Carol) Ponder of Monticello; Chuck (Mary Anne) Willms of Monticello, and Lorie (Jeff) Hines of Cedar Rapids. Tim also leaves behind many nieces and nephews that were near and dear to his heart.

      Tim was preceeded in death by his parents, his sisters-in-law Joyce Hanssen and Janice Ponder.

      Tim was born Feb. 14, 1949 at Lacrosse, Wis. He graduated from Monticello Community Schools in 1969. He went on to serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. Tim worked at Iowa Men's Reformatory before taking a Job with the United States Post office in 1990. He retired from the Cedar Rapids Post office in 2015. In retirement Tim was employed at the Marion HyVee.

      Tim and Sharon Willms were married on May 15, 1992. They loved watching Iowa sporting events including the Packers and Cubs, spending time with family and friends. He was one of the biggest Green Bay Packers fan! Tim enjoyed the outdoors, he loved fishing and hunting on the river with his brothers. The harsh Iowa weather never deterred him from being outside. Tim took great joy in his family and was very proud of his daughter Kaitie.

      Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, July 6, 2021at St. John Lutheran Church rural Monticello with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery. Friends called after 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Pastor Caleb Schewe officiated at the services. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello has taken Tim and his family into their care.       In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. The family would like to offer their special thanks to the staff at the Intensive Care units at St. Luke's Hospital and UIHC, for their gentle care during Tim's illness.
