West Branch tops Panthers

BOYS SOCCER

Monticello has had no shortage of outstanding competition during this boys soccer season.

That was definitely the case again April 27, when the Panthers traveled to face a top 10-ranked team, West Branch, on the Bears’ home field.

West Branch scored four first half goals, and added two in the second half to secure a 6-0 victory over Monticello.

“I thought our guys battled with one of the best teams we will play all season,” Monticello coach Jarrett Easton said. “The effort was good, and Brendan Pasker had a solid start in goal.”

Pasker made 18 saves in the match for Monticello (0-5). The Panthers had four shots on goal, one each from Evan Martensen, Christian Castillo, Gage Guilford and Joel Arduser.

Peyton Miller had four of the Bears’ goals, with Gage Gingerich and Cameron Gingerich scoring one apiece.

“We’ll get back at it this week with a chance to keep improving together,” Easton said.
