Williams named national finalist

     Greg Williams, head coach of the Monticello High School boys track and field team, has been nominated as a National Boys Track and Field Coach of the Year  finalist by the National High School Athletic Coaches Association (NHSACA).

     Williams, who has coached the Panthers for 28 seasons and helped lead them to four state championships and 15 top-five finishes at State, is one of eight boys track and field coaches nominated nationwide.

     This is Williams’ third nomination; he was also nominated for the award in 2016 and 2019.

     The award will be presented in Iowa at the Prairie Meadows Convention Center June 22 in Altoona.
