Worthington defeats Cubs at Holy Cross

Worthington scored eight runs over the first five innings, on the way to a 10-7 victory over the Monticello Cubs in the first round of the Holy Cross Semi-Pro Baseball Tournament May 14.
“We fell short, but we have a lot of positives coming out of the season early,” Cubs player-manager Tanner Felton said. “We are hitting the ball well, and pitching better than expected this early in the season.
“We have guys playing out of position, but our defense will get better.”
The Cubs (1-1) did show some offensive firepower, with 10 hits, including a first-ever home run by Kegan Arduser, another homer by Tanner Felton, and two doubles by Michael Reuter.
Getting two hits apiece for the game were Andrew Mescher, Michael Reuter, Tanner Felton and Arduser.
Starting pitcher Tyler Felton worked four innings and took the loss. Michael Reuter pitched the fifth and sixth innings in relief.
