• The surfacing, paint and lines are down, the nets are up, and outdoor pickleball is under way in Monticello. The city has opened its two pickleball courts on Diamond Dr. near Kleinow Field. (6/3/2020)

• The Monticello girls golf team qualified for State for the first time since 1984. Members of the team are Allison Ries, Haley Ballou, Sonya Sperfslage, Dani Isaac, Darby Kramer and Lauren Ries. They are coached by Joe Steen. (6/3/2015)
50 years ago:
• The Castle Grove slow-pitch softball league started play June 3 with eight teams on the schedule. The league was housed in Monticello last year, but has since been moved to Castle Grove. All games are played at the Immaculate Conception Church softball diamond. The teams in the league are Monti Firemen, Showroom, Kramers, Castle Grove Sr., Castle Grove Jr., Prairieburg, Delhi, Truckstop. (6/5/1975)
75 years ago:
• The official 1950 census figure was received in Monticello Tuesday morning by Mayor A.P. Lambert. The new count of 2,882 people shows an increase of 336 from the 1940 census of 2,546. (6/8/1950)
• The Onslow High School commencement program was given Friday, May 19. Members of the Class of 1950 are Ronald Hodoval, Anne Tomlinson, Dale Bickford, Lonnie Ripperton, Jane Paulsen and Jack McLaughlin. (6/8/1950)
100 years ago:
• The Farmers Co-Operative Creamery Company of Monticello was the scene of a cream scoring contest. The contest indicated clearly that the local creamery is receiving an unusually high quality of cream. More than 70 percent of the cream was sweet, and 65 percent of the same tested was more than 28 percent butter fat. (6/5/1925)
